THE FORGOTTEN VICTIMS
Perhaps
the most difficult realization for any Christian is that they are
targets of the enemy. Satan
is out to destroy anyone who is working for the Lord.
While ministers may have gone into their career with an
understanding of that fact, their families may not.
Their children and spouses often find themselves in the line
of fire.
As
a child of career pastors I was often forced to sit quietly by while
my parents were attacked. As
I grew in understanding and faith I began to see that they were
being made to pay for serving Jesus Christ.
The Bible calls that persecution.
It does not matter if the persecution comes from outside the
church or from within. It
is persecution when anyone tries to harm a dedicated and faithful
minister for Christ
Sadly,
witnessing the persecution of family is all too common an occurrence
for the children of ministers throughout this world.
These ministers have done nothing wrong and do not deserve
the treatment they receive. The
children of Christian leaders are often among the casualties of any
battle. Tormented by the
pain of their parents, they lament their inability to solve the
problem. It is common in
such times for children of ministers to seek solace from God and
relief for their family, but it may not come.
Even
further, they are forced to endure the uprooting of their support
system. As a committed
fixture in the church, they relied upon those around them for moral
and spiritual support. They
saw many of the people in the church as role models and mentors.
Most of their friends were people known through the church.
When the family is attacked, they are cut off from all
outside support. They
lose most of the relationships that are normal for a young person to
have outside the house. Isolation,
both emotional and physical became the reality in which they exist.
At
the “Pastors In Pain” it is our goal to see to it that those who
are made to suffer by having witnessed their families' persecution
are brought to healing. No
matter the feelings in the midst of the times of crisis, God is
faithful through the painful experiences. As much as their parents,
children of ministers must come to rely on God for strength.
The understanding that He loves, even through suffering, and
the conviction that He does not abandon must become the central
belief.
“Pastors
In Pain” is designed to help restore those who have suffered in
the service of Christ. No
less than our parents we have suffered with them.
We have seen the ugly and painful side of ministry. There is
a difference between the church and God.
The church is made up of imperfect and sometimes even evil
people, but God is perfect and loving and merciful and wishes no
harm upon us. He wants
us to turn again to Him. We believe that those who have been through
the worst are those that will minister the best if they are willing
to trust him again. We
pray that we are able to help you.
